William Harrison the father born 1480
John Harrison born 1480
(John Harrison, Lord) half brother to the above, born 1470

An unmerged dup?

John Harrison, of Waltham Holy Cross Was not a lord, he was a Yeoman. I locked his death date (will is in his profile “about.”

Private This tree needs more work. What child are you tracking from ?

Based on John Harrison’s 1549 will proved 1551:

Widow Agnes
Son & heir William Harrison
Daughter Johane Cheyney
Daughter Elizabeth Smythson
Daughter Margaret Harrison
Relative ? John Harrison of London

No wife Eliza Harrison

No son Sir George Arthur Harrison, of Durham & Derby

Ok
My dad got a DNA confirmed match to Sir (Knight) George Harrison married to Lady Lepton. Which is George Harrison on here of Durham England married to Maria Sheldon.

But on here the path is broken when I get to Richard Anthony Harrison and goes down a different path than what is documented on Ancestry.com. And my dad paid them for this information.

Geni.com has a bunch of people posting duplicates which circa years posted as exact years all while other genealogy sites found by Google are saying the same year is a circa year.

I'm working on putting the "theoretical" claims together but I think even some of the
old world claims may have been erroneous.

As for John Harrison, he was married to Elizabeth "Eliza" Nynesor Harrison and there/were 3 different accounts with the same death year for 1555 on all 3. It was the same person needlessly.

Do you have a reference for Elizabeth "Eliza" Nynesor Harrison, her husband & son George Harrison?

It looks like a different Harrison family. This John Harrison of Waltham Holy Cross is cited by Richardson & is the Cheyney Pedigree (as in VP Dick .. )

I’ve separated this line

John Harrison

Yes we have a reference for Elizabeth and her son George+Lepton

Can you post it please?

This George Harrison, of Somerset is not the same as Sir George Arthur Harrison, of Durham & Derby

I will post the information my father told me when he is free to talk on the phone.
Might be today or this evening.

I'd like to make that Ancestry.com isn't sending him incomplete information.
Reason I say that is because on another George Harrison in Virginia married to Elizabeth Duncan, Ancestry.com reports that an Anthony is the father of George and the wife of Anthony is a Rebecca. This corresponds to Anthony II of Cambridge which is weird.

So George Harrison married to Maria Sheldon is dad's 10th great grandfather
Robert Harrison married to an Elizabeth is dad's 9th
John Harrison married to an Emote is dad's 8th
Anthony Harrison married to a Rebecca is dad's 7th
George Harrison married to Elizabeth Duncan is dad's 6th
Willoughby Harrison married to Alice Walker is dad's 5th
Joshua Harrison married to Mary Walker is dad's 4th
Thomas Elzy Harrison is dad's 3rd
Henry Harrison is dad's 2nd
John P Harrison is dad's 1st
William Henry Harrison is dad's grandfather

Ok that’s helpful, it tells me where to concentrate for you.

That's what my dad read off of the ancestry.com site to me over the phone a while back and I wrote it down as he told me.

And ancestry.com had sent that to him.

It comes from an extremely garbled tree I see here

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/family/LK7G-1VP

A lot of nonsense.

Looks like real history begins around here

Lord of Gobions Manor Thomas Harrison, of St. Giles

And this Biography - which needs to be validated as they left off “bibliography”

https://en.everybodywiki.com/Thomas_Harrison,_Lord_of_Gobion%27s_Manor

Erica, this "John Harrison" was listed as a Lord before by someone else and I think its the same over on Ancestry.com.

Need a reference ... so far I’m not seeing that John Harrison was even a property owner .

But who knows ...

Still, we’re making good progress, Private

Thank you.

btw, I talked to dad last night and he said he lost half of his family tree over on the ancentry.com site. So something is happeing over there. Dad doesn't trust them on the information they provided either. Currently they got him linked to Peter Harrison of Cambridge, which wasn't like that before.
Ancestry.com has got things screwed up.

Ancestry is individual trees so only as good as what that researcher put together.

Geni is a collaborative tree, so as good as the “eyes on” and work put in.

What’s especially interesting about your George Harrison, of Westmoreland County is that “all” the previous theories on his ancestry are now “disproved” by DNA testing. Ancestry however seems to be slow to get the news: but thanks to us investigating, it’s correct on Geni.

I’m kind of thrilled actually.

So why are they saying that George's father is Anthony "The Immigrant" ?

Because they haven’t done the research we have. ?

But you’d have to define more clearly who is saying what. Is it an Ancestry.com individual researcher? An employee or consultant? Etc.

Dad paid for monthly memberships and paid for the DNA kit and that was done and
they keep giving him updates to alerts to ancestors.
So whoever is sending those alerts is the ones who are informing him.

Hey is there a Facebook group for this family line of Harrisons? or a Geni.com facebook group?

Those “alerts” (green leafs) are hints to matching tree profiles, it doesn’t ensure or claim accuracy.

Ancestry separately has DNA circles who would send out DNA match hints.

So it’s probably important to distinguish which alerts are saying what.

This far back atDNA, which is what Ancestry offers, is not going to be very useful. To find the male ancestors / descendants of George Harrison you need Y DNA testing; and the Harrison DNA project has already found:

- he does not match Anthony of Cambridge Descendants
- he does match a man in Cheshire UK

Dad had to do a cotton swab of saliva thing and send that in to them.
So he might be getting something else. He always says he got "another hit" and he said that it had located 5th and 6th cousins that we did not know of and if he wanted to contact them it would send invitations to contact them.

Other people contacted him too because they got DNA matches to him and one was a half-sister of a cousin of ours.

I didn’t see anything on Facebook specific to this George Harrison

Yes, finding cousins thru Ancestry dna is awesome, a great use of the tools. And the more those cousin trees are linked together (on Geni, heh !) the better the opportunities to push back to England.
