Jane Boult Pool Avera

Donna Cuzze's research into the surname of Jane, wife of John Pool (and wife of Henry Avera after John died) resulted in the proposal of "Boult" as the most probable surname (Bolt is an alternative spelling).. Jane is often refered to a "Jane Avera", probably because many of the court documents listing Jane were when she was married to Henry Avera.
The mixed Pool / Avera family was a very close one, probably due largely to Jane. In some cases the Pool descendants named children for their Avera half brother. There is an extended line of Alexander Poole / Pool men named for "Alexander Avera", including Thomas' son Alexander, Thomas' grandson Alexander Jr, and Thomas' great grandson Alexander Pool III.

I note that while Donna's research indicates that Boult is the most likely, it remains speculative. I don't know of anyone other than Donna who put significant effort into searching for Jane's surname. Donna believed that Jane, like John Poole (and Henry Avera) was "French Huguenots" from Languedoc Province. Actually, "French" is misleading since the population of Languedoc were actually Occitian by way of language and culture.
