Double check the <Private> person listed as a child. I think the age difference would make this person a grandparent vs parent. I added some source info as well on the Roberts family I found on Google books.
It does go into detail about who married whom and when.
Add what you can and if you need help moving that person I will help. I have Roberts also. (Hiram sounds VERY familiar). My Roberts are in SC. Follow me out through my Mom's side.
I am going to keep looking for more Bio info on Senator Roberts. That's pretty cool.
Could Hiram Roberts have a son Dr. Hiram Roberts? In a letter from my great grandmother in 1956 she said her mother was Martha Jane (Roberts) Marcum and her grandfather was Dr. Hiram Roberts. Based on what information you have found is this a possibility? I am new at this and appreciate any help. I will continue looking at your additional information.
Thanks
Martha Jane (Roberts) Marcum had 3 brothers Martin, Jimmy and Jessie. Also 2 sisters: Adline Roberts and Thursey Roberts. In Martha's daughter's (Sarah Jane Marcum Hosmer) letter, she called her grandfather as Doctor Roberts. I probably incorrectly assumed it was Hiram Roberts and did not have dates to look at. So should I change my entry to Dr. Roberts instead of Hiram Roberts?
Thanks
My great grandmother Sarah Jane (Roberts) Marcum was born 07/091876 and died in 1966 in Tampa, FL. Sarah Jane is on the 1910 census at age 32 with 3 children but no husband. Martha Jane (Roberts) Marcum was born 12/09/1849 and died 04/06/1935 at age 96. I also find a Hiram Roberts as Martha Jane's father born in 1807 and do not have a date of his death. Thanks for your help.
I found a Hiram Roberts (farmer) b 1807, wife Mary b 1805, a Hiram Camel same HH b 1860. Nextdoor neighbors Martha J Markham b 1850, husband Joseph S b 1841.

Doctor is not listed anywhere. Maybe that was a nickname. Markham could be misspelled Marcum.
Does this look like the right track?
1880 Marcum, Joseph age 38; wife Martha age 29; daughter Mary age 9; son James age 7; daughter Sarah age 5 & son William age 1.

Yeah. In the letter from Sarah Jane (Roberts) Marcum, she lists her siblings as: Hairm Marcum, Joe Willey, William, John, Jammie, Mary Lizie, Rhoda Ann, Darthuld (Dolly), Martha Ellen, and Addie. John S. was Z. D. Marcum's father. I found an obit for Z. D. Dolly was mother to Mark Jacobs. Sarah Jane married James "Jimmie" Hosmer. In my baby book my mother listed Sarah Jane's birthday as July 9, 1876. She died in Tampa, FL at the age of 90.

There is a Hiram Roberts in Savannah 1860 & 1880 who is a banker. Not the same guy. Some people have him incorrectly tied 8n with the other Hiram elder.

I think this is Hiram Roberts elders family. Taken off 7 of those kids. Names duplicated. Now with them being in SC I need to find the link between them and my side.
When Sherrod Shearard Roberts was born in 1768 in Virginia, his father, William, was 24 and his mother, Patience, was 24. He married Adeline SIMMONS and they had 15 children together. He also had one daughter from another relationship. He also had one daughter with Caroline Simmons. He died in October 1850 in Greenville, South Carolina, having lived a long life of 82 years.
Ok don't continue to add until I can get them connected to the right tree.
William Hardin Robert / Roberts, Sr
Here is the John and son Joseph S who were the nextdoor neighbors in the 1870 census. Same deal. I had to request to be able to make profile changes.
John S. Marcum
Here's your Sarah Jane and Hosmer's child
Lillie Jane Channell
The profile is a Master Profile. Start building your tree away from here and once the other side is open they can be connected.
I haven't read the whole thread but just because the profile is a Master Profile, doesn't mean you have to be a curator or Pro to edit it or add connections to it. A Master Profile is so designated so that if someone tries to merge a similar profile into it, if there is any conflicting data, the data entered into the MP is the data that takes precedence. A Master Profile is the one that is considered to be most correct. Even then, if something is proven to be incorrect, anyone can 'fix' it.
I got some help. Lots of help. Take a look around and make sure everything is ok before we continue to add.
It seems the profiles above I was waiting for to get the ok to add to them have been abandoned. Best bet is to search to see if there is a duplicate already posted for that person and if not add them.
