I'm not sure that Eurnice and Thankfull were married to the same David.

It does look like though that Thankfull was married to the David, son of William and Lidia Goodale as Thankfull's sister is also married to another one their children. There is a marriage reccord that Thankfull Maynard married David White in Marlboro, New Hampshire 29 Sep 1801 but it does not specify parents. There are also birth records for their children from Lydia in 1801 to Irene in 1816. al attached on familysearch. There is also a town vital records that has David, the son of William and Lydia born 11 or 29 Mar 1777 Bolton, Massachusetts.

This is why I think it was a different david who married Eurnice Shannon. There is a marriage record for 5 Mar 1805 in Nelson, New Hampshire. Eunice is buried next to a David White who's death match this profile and according to his grave was born around 1777, same as the David above. I am guessing because of the birth year, the two Davids were mixed up and have been copied since.

There as also a 3rd David White that I am looking at that has the same profile within the ancestry community who married Nancy Ann Folger.

I do believe they are all connected to the same white family, as I get DNA matches connected to Goodale and Folger descendents.

Also, Nancy Ann White and David White were married in 8 December 1811 Nantucket, Massachusetts, United States according to records.

I’ve set up a second David White for you as husband of Eunice White. I’m going to look at the children and put the ones born in Nelson as children of Eunice.

The notes on https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/97217980/eunice-white are confusing. If she died wife of David White as per tombstone then her first marriage was to Daniel Metcalf and the 1799 marriage date is for someone else.

Well, according to

"History of the Town of Marlborough - Cheshire County, New Hampshire" by Charles A. Bemis, originally printed in 1881 by the Press of Geo. H. Ellis, Boston, Ma., new edition printed by The Frost Free Library, produced by the New England History Press, Somersworth, NH. Copyright 1974 (p.684)

David, son of Lydia Goodell and William White, married 1) Thankful Maynard. 2 children: Lydia & David.

She died and he married 2nd to Eunice Shannon. 5 children: Zophar, Gardner, Emily, Jehiel, Irene.

No Dr. Jacob.

on faamilysearch there are vital records for the children listing Thankful as their mother.

Do you have links to the image documents?

Thank you, I added the citations to Thankful’s profile.

This https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/97217867/david-white buried with Eunice is a different person

Because Thankful is listed mother of all the children born in Nelson.

Next step is to look for probate records, see if a widow is named.

Kimberly Louise Fraser I see you worked on the Joseph Stiles family. What do you make of Thankful having children with David White after he married Eunice Stiles, widow of William Shannon?

Birth records written wrong or .... ?

i did find there are 2 Eunice's, Stiles 1733 and her daughter Shannon 1799. It looks by age comparison Stiles was the wife of william and White and buried with White. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FDNC-MHJ

https://books.google.com/books?id=VtJqAAAAMAAJ&lpg=PA69&ots... Has the Eunice Shannon b 1799 (the daughter) as David White’s 2nd wife.

In the 1850 census, Eunice White is aged 77, making her born 1773. Her Death record in 1860 lists her as: Birth Date: abt 1773 Death Date: 4 Dec 1860.

And there’s that marriage in 1816 to Metcalf, is that Eunice the daughter?

just looking at the age difference, id say yes, the marriage in 1816 to Metcalf, is Eunice the daughter

That book also has Davids parents listed different.

They have son of William White & Rachel!

Why is one little guy so confused in Records? Bah.

I was thinking about the birth records / marriage records. What they have posted on FamilySearch look like “cards” (jackets) transcribed &
Summarized around 1900 from the (original ?) documents. So I’m thinking there are two possibilities:

- the marriage date of David & Eunice was written or interpreted wrongly

Or

- the Birth Mother was written as Thankful for the children but not based on a record.

You’ll notice that the Death record for Irene lists her mother as Eunice.

So we could

- look at the publish dates of the “histories” and try to ascertain if they were looking at original registers
- continue to look for Probate or property transfers in the next generation, which
Might have wording (say, in Jehiel) that indicates his mother more clearly

All of the records listed on cards have this note on ancestry..

"Original data: “New Hampshire, Death and Disinterment Records, 1754–1947.” Online index and digital images. New England Historical Genealogical Society. Citing New Hampshire Bureau of Vital Records, Concord, New Hampshire."

Ancestry also states this in the main record search description..

"Vital records in early New Hampshire are kept at the town level, with some records dating back to early Colonial days. Statewide registration was required by law beginning in 1866, although compliance didn’t follow immediately, and even as late as the 1880s, not all records found their way to the Secretary of State.

In 1905, New Hampshire established its Bureau of Vital Records and Health Statistics. To create a state set of vital records, towns were asked to send in copies of their pre-1905 records. This database includes cards created by the state using details extracted from those original town records, as well as later marriage and divorce records created through 1947. The bulk of the divorce records range from 1858 to 1937.

Not every town provided copies of its records to the Bureau of Vital Records, so even if your ancestor doesn’t appear in this database, it doesn’t necessarily mean a record doesn’t exist at the town level. Images are arranged alphabetically by first and third letter of surname (A*a, A*b, etc.). This may cause images to appear out of order."

“This database includes cards created by the state using details extracted from those original town records ...”

So the way to know for sure is to examine the original town records from 1800 etc. FamilySearch May have them on microfiche. Perhaps a local library or historic Society in the Nelson NH area has access or their own records. And I would think the state archives in Concord, but I don’t know that they’d do a long distance lookup.

for the death record for Irene, The family could have just stated that her mother was Eurnice from the information they knew. I have not seen any other childrens death records stating their mothers name. Only the index for the births which state Thankful as the mother. Although all the index cards look to be transcribed by Harry Green 13 Dec 1906 so he could have just wrote thankful on all the cards in a hurry.

Yes, the marriage record could be correct and all the children from Zophar to Irene could be Eunices. Or the marriage date was transcribed wrong and David married Eunice after he had the children with thankful.

There are 2 records that could clear things up. The death record of Thankful, or the actual marriage record of david and Eunice.

There is also a death record index for Emily stating her mother is Eunice Stiles https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FSL5-R98

David White should be removed as a spouse from Nancy Folger as a common undocumented copy of online family trees. Although Nancy married a David White in 1811 it would not have been with this David b1777 as he was already married and still having children with Ernice Stiles.
