Ok so was working on ancestry on Claude's family. I've been TRYING to find a way to explain certain things - this time i'm still stumped on his mother.
He has a load of half siblings from Eliza Emmeline Hipps, and she was too young when Claude was born and same with his older sister Nancy.
Both Nancy and Claude have some records (i'll have to reply later with WHAT records) that state a "LAURA" or "LORA" or "LARA" , one said Worley, and one just said Stills.
The only POSSIBLE WORLEY is Laura Florence Nightingale Stills. My thinking is two fold, HOPEFULLY it wasn't incest.
Also, as far as i know records have stated William Nathan Stills is Claude's father, making Laura either his aunt or cousin (I'm not sure which parent she has, the family tier is so hard to keep track of.) - Either she was in charge of them in the grandfather's house when they were young, OR she's their actual mother.
DNA hasn't done much to help this, and i'm trying to pull strings.
As far as i know it's not the ricker family, i've got DNA ties to the ricker family myself through the Lambs and Cutshaws etc. (and a few of the Stills) - but there's nothing tying records wise as Tennesee doesn't have records phyiscally before 1908 unless it's a federal US census or war records.
Census states Cedric was born in 1890, WW1/WW2 records state he was 1892.
Someone in the Genealogy Discord group said to beleive the war records over the census records.
I"m gonna get ahold of the state dept in TN that handles stuff like this, I don't live there but maybe they'll aid me somehow if i beg? I can't afford to just FLY there. Nor can my dad who is in MN.
Emailed dad about photos, so between him and my cousin i'll at least be able to get some photographic evidence of his existence to share with DNA and family tree relatives.
But yea, if ANYONE LITERALLY has any clue how to look for the mother or any hints .. let me know.
Also still finding it weird this guy grew up in TN, and moved ALL THE WAY to New York.
Either he had a shizzy cruddy family, OR my best idea was that i think he was working for DuPont.
Because not long after he married Lillian, and had Lee (the first of the three kids) - they moved to Delaware, and I KNOW my Grandma's sister used to work for DuPont in Wilmington.
