In the overview for Gerhard (Matfride), it says that he had two sons by Oda of Saxony, but both he and Oda are listed as parents of Uda (Voda) who was married to Gozelo von Bidgau. Am I missing the information about his daughter, Uda, in the overview, or is this perhaps a mistake from an incorrect merge? I'm confused, researching for my tree on Ancestry, and don't want to carry bad information over there (they create quite enough bad connections on their own!).

I am not sure if there has been a bad merge or if the scholarly view has changed recently.

Looking at the old copies of Medlands preserved in the About of the profiles it seems that Cawley has changed the structure of this part of the tree separating Gerhard, duc de Lorraine (husband of Oda) from Gerhard, duc de Lotharingia (who's wife may have been named Hidda/Ida).

It is most likely that curators will realign Geni to match Medlands, given some time.

OK. I'm going to make myself a note to check back on this one and see if it gets changed in the future. Like I said, I don't want to carry the wrong information over to Ancestry. Folks over there seem to be a bit lax in the "fact-checking" department way too often.

Thanks, Alex!

There is a lot of interpretation this far back in the tree, it is really history rather than genealogy.
I always revert to Medlands but they are not infallible either and this is a prime example of where they seem to have changed their mind. There are Geni members who are medieval specialists but there are also a lot of Geni members who are not, even as specialists there can be differences of opinion.

I'll remove my Curator Note. Jason Scott Wills Curates - so he'll want to do the updating. Thanks for picking it up guys.
