For some reason, I can't enter the birth date of my great-great-grandfather.

1) When I try, it says "This profile is too old to be alive." And there's no place to mark him as deceased."

2) And it shows this "Email l*******e@r************m." right under the place you put his name. This isn't my email address and I don't know whose it is. I created the entry and filled out all the information. I'm the manager of the record and yet there's another email seemingly indicating that someone else is also a manager. How do I remove this?

Thanks to any and all for your help in resolving this issue.

Are you talking about this profile: Private ??

That is now a claimed profile - geni no longer shows the actual e-mail addresses - which is very annoying, since it means I cannot let my relatives know which e-mail they used - but before the "@" it starts with "l" and ends with"e" and after the "@" it starts with "r" and ends with "m".
No idea if someone accidentally put the e-mail invite in the wrong profile and the person would like help moving to the correct profile or if it was done on purpose.
You might try using "Send Message" on the profile to ask him who he is, etc.
If you get a response, and he is looking for help to move to the correct profile - then you can try posting in https://www.geni.com/discussions/178003 and a Curator can perhaps help, or offer advice.

If you get no response - or are sure it was done intentionally - then
- go to the profile - click "Actions"(upper right) - then choose "Report" - but I have no idea if better to choose "Claimed Historical Profile" or "Deceased" - again, suggest post that question in the Discussion I provided link to. [think "Claimed Historical" is for famous folk - "Deceased" usually gets quick action - so possibly that is better, but not sure - if you do go this route - put some info in the box explaining how you know the person is not still alive]

Private User What you want to do is report him as deceased (actions menu > report > reason: deceased (put in the date). This report routes to Geni customer support, who needs to do some server work. They notify you when done and you’ll be able to edit the profile correctly.

Private User Thank you. For a relative, reporting deceased is priority work for Geni.

Technically it’s probably a claimed historic profile as the email seems an error, but usually those are “way up” in the tree, and they don’t get the same fast action.

First of all, Thanks for the prompt replies.

@Lisa Lubin. Yes. I am referring to Joseph Friedman. Thanks

Erica Howton Per your advice, I submitted a report and chose "deceased." I hope this resolves the issue. This email must be an error--electronic or otherwise.

For sure, he's dead. Were he still alive, he'd be approaching 140...lol...
