2nd marriage was to:

Bettie Gates was born in December 1858 in Texas. She married Daniel C Anderson on August 23, 1893, in Arkansas. They had one child during their marriage - a daughter Lillie born in May 1883 in Missouri.

The dates and location of the above seem off to me. Daniel’s first wife died 1892. It is possible he may have married Bettie a year later in 1893 but it is listed their child Lillie was born 1883 in Missouri. I believe Daniel still married to Sophie in 1883 and don’t know of Bettie and Daniel ever being in Missouri (as indicated Lillie born Missouri). I need to check the 1910 census in Arkansas as to Lillie’s age and relationship to Daniel. ??

Your post indicates “Sohie”. ???? Possibly a typo?

For some reason marriage license document says "Sopha" and my grandmother Marie wrote it as "Sopha" on the back of photo of her mother (Anna Rebecca Anderson). It really should be Sophia like name on grave, etc., and I have corrected it, thank you.
I believe Ancestry shows Lillie Anderson as daughter of Bettie in error in 1900 Census. Definitely, should be stepdaughter. Another tree on Ancestry shows Betty Gates with maiden name of Collins and born in 1858. Married GW Gates in 1883 and he died 1892. Married Daniel Anderson in 1983. I have another thought: as we believe Lillie to be Daniel and Sophia’s child, the census should not indicate step daughter . Relationships of members of the household are “supposed” to be to the head of the household; but as we know, many errors in the census and I’ve seen much worse in my Anderson line. Do you know anything of the legal problems James A. Anderson incurred around the state line (Daniel and Sophia’s last son born in Missouri)? Also, I believe his date of death is wrong on his grave marker as a relative guessed at it. Thanks for your info. Is there anything I might have if interest to you? Sandy
