Jane Broughton 1510-1570 m. Richard Osborne II
The book "Chesters of Chicheley" has her father as John Broughton and on another Chart has her father as Richard Broughton. The Virginia Magazine Vol.1, listed her father as John Broughton. I need some help with this one because there are a lot of people on the internet posting the information with out posting their sources! My email address is Katieo4321@aol.com I am related to Evelyn Claypool Bracken who when alive was a DAR. Respectfully yours, Kay Osborn

Greetings! To all those who have been down this path. I will tell you where I have been:
#1. "The Chesters of Chicheley" The scriber of this book made a huge mistake! On one page he stated that John Broughton is the father of Jane Broughton 1510-1570. That Jane had two brothers with no issue- so they left Jane their entire estate. One was Lancelyn and the other is Edward Broughton. #2. In the "Virginia magazine it stated that Richard Broughton was the father of Jane Broughton. I need a third source to balance out the other statements. I am leaning towards John Broughton. What is wrong with Geni, Ancestory.com, and some of the other sites is that some of the people never site to their sources. My brother is writing a book and we thrive on accuracy. I believe it is Lady Jane Osborne. I have looked at Sir John Broughton on Geni. Virginia Lee, I sure have come across the name Oldham a lot!

In the Collins Peerage under DUKE OF LEEDS p 253 Jane Broughton married to Richard Osborn II---Jane Broughton's father is John Broughton of Broughton, Esq. Two brothers are Lancelyn and Edward both without issue left their fortunes to Jane Broughton.
#2. Source: "Chesters of Chicheley" has both John Broughton and his brother Richard Broughton as the father of Jane Broughton. #3. Source: Virginia Magazine Vol.1 two separate pages two separate answers. I will relook at source #4. 313 Broughton (The Name and Family of Broughton by H.E. Waite.) Wrappers 7pp.(excert)

There is one last rock to look under, an author by the name of Mason. I don't have that note available right now. Ms. Mason is suppose to be a well known author, about 100 years ago. Can you tell me WHY you think that Ann Cheney is the mother?
I will also check out Virginia magazine Vol. 12 pg 202

John Broughton on the internet did not help me. However, I will CHECK out both suggestions. "IF" Catherine De Vere is the mother, I would think that they would have documented this more closely. For some reason Jane was controlled by Cheney and so was her inheritance. She had two brothers, Lancelyn and I believe Edward. They never married and left their money to their sister. I believe they were lawyers.
