This couple lived in Aberdeen in the late 1700's. William left for America and Mary was left to raise 5 children. Some researchers claim William was a sea captain and refer to him as Old Billy. I would like to know what evidence there is to support this. There are records of a Wm. Morrison living in Nova Scotia and making a living as a vintner during the right time frame. Whether our William returned to Scotland is a mystery.
Another puzzle is how dozens of researchers claim Mary Skene was the daughter of the brilliant academic Doctor George Skene, and yet his daughter Mary died in 1795 before our Mary's last four children were born. His other daughter Mary Ann Skene never married.
I would be so grateful to anyone who could shed light on the lives of these two. Perhaps there is a family Bible, correspondence, or family records that would help to reveal their story.
