After purchasing Geni I find that Gedcom can not be imported to Geni. One of the services of Geni is merging various family trees. If my tree can not be imported how am I supposed to utilize the various Geni services. I do not intend to import persons one by one.

Have I missed something.

Well, you *could* start with yourself and work backward till you get a reliable match. Then all you need to do is look for missing/incorrect information that you can add, and/or relatives who haven't been added yet.

Thank you for this information. What happens after I have got a reliable match, must I deal with every person to be added separately or does the program form the tree automatically?

Thanking you in advance.

Pekka, the idea behind Geni is a large, single, collaborative tree called the World Family Tree https://www.geni.com/worldfamilytree. When you (or in some cases the system automatically) find a identical profile between your initally separate tree, and World Family Tree, these should be merged. In this way your tree will become a part of the larger tree, and no research already done needs to be re-done (hopefully links to primary resources are already there). So nothing is "formed automatically" as there should be one tree, with one single profile per person.
If you happen to be in FB, there's a great group at https://web.facebook.com/groups/yhteissukututkimus/ .
