Hi guys,

I recognise some of your names from my initial Big Y results before FTDNA reworked everything. Does anyone here have any origin theories of the L1 that you are apart of?

I see ancient links to Sweden and Finland before Scotland in the L1 history so wondering what conclusions you guys have come to?

I know that one of the headless roman gladiators of York was L1, somehow taken from Northern Britain, and possibly a recent immigrant from southern scandinavia / baltic. There are of course the possibilities that Danes, Vikings or Normans brought some L1 to Britain. As you guys are closer to the scandinavian side I would be interest to hear your knowledge of the L1 story.

Many thanks,
Dan

I am also confirmed R-L1, will delve into a further SNP pack to find terminal, but my direct male line traces back to Montrose in Scotland.
Would love more insight into the origins of R-L1.

Not R-L1, but my father's maternal Clark side is. Allegedly from Donegal but I first prove their whereabouts in Maugerville, New Brunswick in 1777. A cousin on 23&me is tested R-L1.
