Hello,
I was asked to start the discussion about Adelaide, in order to prevent further errors. A few days ago I updated Adelaide's profile (curated it & underlined, that her parentage is unknown) - but it's been since reversed.
I would like to make this line as correct as possible, that's why this topic is essential - to provide arguments and work on the common consensus.
First of all, I'm sorry I'm not going to provide an exact proof of Adelaide's uncertain parentage - I'm going to translate it in the next days. The common consensus among contemporary historians is as follows: Władysław Herman had indeed three daughters, but only one is known by name (that's another topic that needs cleaning in the future). The existing source (Chronicle of Gall Anonim) states that out of these three daughters - one was married to a Russian prince (we don't know which one for sure), another was childless, and the third one - was married to a Polish nobleman.
That's the link to the source I found (Polish historian) - http://www.wbc.poznan.pl/dlibra/plain-content?id=164573
Pages from 7 to 14 explains the current state of research regarding Wladyslaw's daughter. And it is stated with a certainty, that
"regarding the ancestry of Markgrave Dietpold's first wife, it can be underlined, that she was defnitely not a daughter of Wladyslaw Herman, and that probably she was not of a Piast dynasty at all. Most likely she was a daughter of a Polish nobleman" - page 9.
This is also confirmed at Polish Wikipedia, but on the other hand - both MedLands and German Wikipedia state otherwise (although from what I understood at Medlands, it is not certain as well - http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/POLAND.htm#WladislawIHermandied1102 ).
Please let me know what do you think about that.
