So there’s a tree on ancestry suggesting his mother, Marie Thole, May have had him out of wedlock between marriages. That could explain the father name discrepancies.

You’ve set up the tree on Geni in the way I saw it on Ancestry. I see that in the 1930 he’s listed as Earl L Asher

Thanks you Erica, I got distracted yesterday and now you have done all the hard work for me :)

I was suspecting Earl was born between marriages, I suppose without DNA tests there's no way to tell if Earl was Louis Asher's son or not. Earl's middle name being Louis is suggestive but not evidence.

There are a couple of Hale family trees listing him as son of Louis Asher, so I think that’s what the family believes.

There is an issue with Addie Asher

I merged her father into the existing profile, but the evidence he was in fact her father is not really existing, and “most” have her father as “unknown Dimmick.” It would take more study to affirm / reject a 2nd Marriage for Hugh to a Margaret.

Meanwhile we should get that “von Thole” tree finished.
