Place auto finding issue

Hi Guys,

for a while now when I type a place name it finds or suggest the wrong place which is sorted only after adding a country.

For example:

When I start to type and I type "ausch" it suggests "Lugeck 7, 1010 Wien, Austria". When I add the rest of the letters to write "Auschwitz" it completes it to "Be'er Sheva, Israel". Only if I type "auschwitz polland" it will suggest "Więźniów Oświęcimia 20, 32-603 Oświęcim, Poland".

It recently it had a different behavior yet Be'er Sheva was still coming if I typed the full name.

Ideas?

The lookup is done by Google Map, and I would guess that Google assume you are looking for a place in Israel if your own location based on IP lookup is Israel. The solution is to be more specific if you want to override Google's assumption based on your location and previous lookup's.

There is no solution. Just deal smartly with it. In Oded's example starting with Oswie... will get you to the right place quickly maybe. There are additional problems when the desired town is one of many with the same name. Ostrowo for example.

I have fixed a few of these errors in profiles where there are multiple children all affixed to the same town but different townships/counties/regions. Which one is correct? The multiple managers don't know.

This computer selection process also affects the Jewish Town Projects. Many of the descriptions now say which town in which township and which county the project refers to and not these other ones.

It makes sense, but the difference between the two places' name is huge

Appreciate any comments or tell me more about this computer assumption about Ostrowo. I can not find any Ostrowo in Kamień. There were Fuchs in Ostrowo, Wielkopolski so that is more likely to be correct than Kamień.
