Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the USA There was rumor in our family we were related and also rumor related by marriage. Also a newspaper article of his wife lunching with our distant family members. Finally, figured out he is 2nd cousin 1x removed of wife of our 5th great-grandfather.

My great grandmother on my father's, father's side was Pauline Epstein Lincoln. Her father was Thomas Erb Lincoln. The Erbs were a family the Lincolns were very close and intermarried with in Pennsylvania during the 18th century. There is a historic Lincoln/Erb graveyard in Pennsylvania. He and I start sharing mutual great grandparents with Mordecai Lincoln II. His 3rd great grandfather and my 7th. He is also related to me on my mothers fathers side through the Boones, who, they had a similar close relationship with as the Erbs. Ironically I am more closely related to Daniel Boone, who is my first cousin. I am ancestorly tied with Abe even one more time on my maternal grandfathers side. My last connection is two of my great grandfathers fought alongside him, (he was a Captain) in the Blackhawk wars. Lincoln had a vendetta against native americans as they killed his grandfather. After all that he my 3rd cousin 5 times removed.

Abe is connected to me by blood and in-law connections.
On my Mothers Maternal side from KY, Abe is my 3rd cousin 6X removed thru the Hanks line. On my Father's Paternal side from the Massachusetts's colony branch of Cummings, married into several of Lincoln families out of Mass. Sarah Cummings, my 7th Great Aunt married Isaac Lincoln, Abe's 2nd Great Uncle. Abe's 5th Great Grand Father Samuel Lincoln, is my 1st cousin 11xr from my Father's Maternal side.
