I'm searching for Shanaghan / Fox ancestors who were born in Southern Ireland, posibly Co Roscommon, Tipperary, Galway or Clare. Most probably in a west of Ireland county. Some of the family, my branch, migrated north to Co Tyrone/ Donegal in the early 1800's. Most of the family seem to have gone to Scotland and then onwards to the United States and Australia. I have concluded this from my distant DNA matches. Names like Mc Hale, Burke, Mc Avock and Walsh and I feel there is a Ryan and a Mc Dermott connection also - in North Maoo and Roscommon. PleLooking forward to hearing from anyone with a connection to any of these names.
Many thanks
Mary Gallagher Mc Sorley

Hi Mary
Are you a member of the Irish DNA group on f/book? Its worth joining them if you have had your DNA done?
Good luck

Sorry this message has been sent to me by mistake.

I'm sorry I can't help.

I do have family in Ireland both in mayo and galway. I know my great grandmothers maiden name was gallagher she was from mayo. The family name is rowland

I'm sorry but I can't help in your search - Helen.

Sorry, there are none of these names in my family history as far as i know. Good luck in your search!

I have both almost pure Irish-English matches among distant relatives and mixed despite me not having any Irish percentage but that was also the case for other ethnicities at MyHeritage. Maybe the method is weak or something. Nonetheless, I have Anna Gallagher (Vokhmyanina) among my matches on Gedmatch though seems very very distant if any. And I think my mtDNA group J1c shows my maternal connection with Ireland maybe through Sweden but surely originating somewhere in Italy and Greece, the Balkans. But that's too far in time I guess, which I am interested the most

Hi. I don't know why your request has been sent to me. I do not believe there to be any relation at all. Good luck with your search.

Dolores Vanessa Joy (previously Foley),

Read my post above on how to remove yourself from this discussion.

If you received this message 'by mistake' you're probably following the UK portal.

I do not know why this discussion has been sent to me. I will unfollow it.

Sorry this has also come to me in error.

I think part of the problem is that this was sent to the UK Portal (which seems to be a project followed by a lot of people that don't follow a lot of other projects and/or know how they work) and that it might have been better placed in a project focused on Ireland and/or brick walls.

None of your names seem to reconcile with my tree... don't know why I got linked in this.

I am very sorry to say that none of those names have nothing to do with any of my family as far as I know again sorry.

I do wish that people would rather say nothing when they are not interested in a particular. There’s a lot of useless messages just to say nothing.

HI

Nothing to do with my family either, i'm afraid

Don't know why I have this either

I have, I think about a quarter, Co. Tyrone ancestry perhaps some of it from people who strayed there from other parts of Ireland. They ended up in the north of England via Scotland but I don't know of any Shanaghan amongst them, a few Fox on AncestryDNA matches trees even a couple from Ireland but mostly English, I can't see any clear connection to me though. I do get some Gallaghers turning up in DNA match trees they interest me more.

NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR FAMILY

How about trying further, most people are so ignorant, the west indies. Is a place you Will find out . People stop being do ignorant the nations have been mixed and dispersed worldwide.

Sorry, no connections to any of the names or places you mention. Good luck with your search though.

thanks for looking Susan Francis..

I have no idea why I am involved in this notification

Sheila Hurst - you can just unfollow it.

There are Fox families in Foxford Co Mayo and they feature in early census data.
Cheers Mike
