Francoy DuBois - Why did the family leave France?

I have not seen any document that shows that he was born in Liege, so I dont buy it , really.
WHY should a "noble" frenchman go up into the mountains in Belgium and take a job making charcoal?
And where did he get the skills for that job?
And why should the vallons let him in?
Atleast in sweden they kept their skills in the family, and didnt let outsiders in.

Who can say for sure how it is and without any documentation it is impossible.
