I do not believe that Maria (Polly) Yost's parents are John Phillip Yost and Rosina Beringer. They did have a daughter, Maria Magdalena Yost who was born about the same time as Polly, but there is some evidence that Maria Magdalena Yost married a Henry Scheffey. Maria Magdalena Yost, daughter of John Phillip Yost and Rosina Beringer was born 24 Feb. 1873 or 1874, married to Henry Scheffey and died 27 Aug 1859.
According to the "Eby" book, my 3x great grandmother, Maria "Polly" Yost was born 12 March 1784, married Jacob Shantz and immigrated to Waterloo County, now in Ontario, Canada in 1810 and died there on 22 October 1869.
So there were at least two Maria Yosts. It is possible that they were cousins, children of sons of Philip Yost, but I cannot find any information to either confirm or refute that. And I haven't been able to find information about the families of the other sons.
Does anyone have any sources that would solve this puzzle?
