I thought I was paying for geni pro and ended up with hertiage. Or they separate companies and I have to pay twice or what?

Hi Private User,

Geni is owned by MyHeritage but our paid features are (mostly*) different from their paid features, so they are separate.

On Geni, your Pro subscription primarily gets you tree matches, advanced search and priority customer support.

MyHeritage offers two subscriptions and/or a bundle:

- a "Site subscription" lets you build your MyHeritage tree beyond a certain limit on the number of profiles (makes no sense on Geni; you can build your tree as large as you want for free on Geni)

- a "Data subscription" gets you access to MH's records collection and also what they call Smart Matches (other family trees)

- "MyHeritage Complete" bundles the site subscription and data subscription together for one price.

* Your data subscription on MyHeritage allows you to view the Record Matches and Smart Matches that are displayed on your Geni profiles, and allows you to confirm those matches to post the match back to the Geni profile as a source. I suspect this is how you ended up paying for MyHeritage instead of Geni.

Which you want depends on what you're trying to do. If it turns out you paid for one and want something else, either company would be happy to refund your purchase so you can get what you wanted. If you want more details, feel free to send me a private message ("Send Message" on my profile) and I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.
