Sophia Harter (possible alternate name) Flo Sophia Scovel, Sophia E. Scoville (1854 -Aug. 9, 1887) was married to Christian Harter in 1875 they had 2 children Elotus Elverda Harter (1876- Dec. 31, 1965) who married William Leonard Green, her sister was Ruby Vain Harter (1878-1906) who married Robert Lee Wood.. Do you have her actual birthplace? and Burial site? Is there a connection to Christian Harter could James be a sibling? I have the 1880 census records and the Marriage information for Sophia and Christian Harter and their children. Sophia died in 1887, she is supposed to have been buried in Seneca, Newton County, Missouri. This information comes from a written record that was researched by Joseph Lee Green who was a brother to William Leonard Green who was the Husband of Elotus Elverda Harter the eldest daughter of Sophia Harter. A question that came to my research was that Flo and/or Sophia may have had a twin. It has also been stated in the written records of Joseph Lee Green that she was Full Blooded Cherokee. My 2nd Great Uncle Joseph Lee Green began the Record and book in 1906 the year that Ruby Vain died (the Youngest child of Sophia and Christian Harter) he worked on the record until 1939, he passed away in 1951. Sophia has been a lifelong mystery to me. I really would like to get these records (birth and death site information) On another note but specifically pertaining to Sophia death site, I did get a hold of the Caretaker for the Cemetery, Mr. Bennett, but he only had the records dating back to 1910, There are several tombstones that have been left without anything but a marker and with deteriorated and are unreadable headstones it has been extremely difficult to find the records so far.so he wasn't able to help me currently. Accurate information would be greatly appreciated and it would clear up a lot of confusion when it comes to Sophia Harter. I have always loved history and continuing the work of the family tree is spectacular and very rewarding. It has been a family tradition that I would like to hand down to my granddaughter. Any help or insight would be appreciated, MY email is photobuggrandma@yahoo.com. Respectfully, J. Denise Morey
