Herman Todd (Hartville)
July 22, 1926 - April 2, 2018

Herman Otis Todd, son of Charles and Maude Todd, was born July 22, 1926 at Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life Monday evening in the Hartville Care Center, surrounded by family, at the age of ninety-one years, eight months, and eleven days.

Herman was united in marriage to Velma Browitt on July 24, 1948 and to this union two sons and one daughter. After Velma passed in January of 1989, Herman married Neldeane Kelley and the two were together until her passing in March of 2005.
Herman is preceded in death by his first wife, Velma; his second wife, Neldeane; his parents; his two brothers, Harold and Howard; and his sister, Ruth Ann.

He is survived by his two sons, Roger and his wife Linda, of Forsyth, Missouri and Rex, of Hartville, Missouri; his daughter, Janice DeCocq and her husband Matthew, of Springfield, Missouri; a granddaughter, Laura Volner and her husband Roy; four great-grandchildren, Dustin, Chad and Cortlyn, Donavon, and Ryan; one great-great-grandchild, Weslan; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many caring friends.

Herman was born in the Seymour area but spent most of his life around Hartville. He went to grade school at Dry Branch and graduated from Hartville High School in 1944. After he graduated he was drafted into the Army Air Force to serve overseas during WWII. When he returned from the war he married his high school sweet heart Velma and the couple settled down in Hartville. Herman started off working as a trucker delivering milk to the Kraft plant for farmers wanting to sell. When the Kraft plant closed he started working for MFA as a truck driver delivering feed all over the area for both the Hartville and later the Mansfield MFA. He worked as a feed driver for over thirty years before retiring. After he retired he still kept working by volunteering for the Meals on Wheels program.

Herman was baptized and saved at an early age and attended First Free Will Baptist Church with Velma. After Velma passed, Herman and Neldeane attended Hill Top Pentecostal Church as often as they could.

When Herman wasn't working you could often catch him out in his garden or walking the fields trying to jump some quail. Herman also liked to fish whenever he could and listen to the Cardinals or the Hartville boys basketball team whenever they came on. Herman was also an active member of the American Legion Post 45. Most importantly, Herman loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed his grandchildren as often as he could. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and caring friend. We celebrate his wonderful life and will always cherish the many happy memories he helped create. Farewell Papa Todd, but not forever.
