There is a profile in Geni for my Wife's great-grandfather's wife's niece

When I search for the profile and bring it up it says "You are connected"

When I try to view the connection it says "No path found"

How can someone be connected without there being a path to them?

This particular relationship - "Wife's great-grandfather's wife's niece" seems fairly straight forward.

What is going on?

Can you post a link to the profile so we can see?

Thank for responding Anne

The profile for Dora Grace Henry is Dora Grace Henry

It seems that the tree profiles and relationships were not in place to work out the "Wife's great-grandfather's wife's niece" connection. I have now added these so see the relationship as I would expect.

However, when it previously said...

You are connected to Dora Grace Henry

You → No path found to Dora Grace Henry. → Dora Grace Henry

I don't understand what it means to be "connected" but with "no path". I had assumed that the existence of a path is what ensures that a connection exists?

Thanks

Ok.

What has happened is that some connection has been broken.

I will see what I can figure out.

But I got the same result; it told me I was connected but could find no path.

This means the profile WAS connected to the World Tree at some point, but some connection in the tree has been disconnected.

It is connected now, and I was able to force a path to your wife, and by extension you, by following it down, though I am still told there is no path from me to Dora.

See if your path is showing now.

What’s going on is that it takes a while for new paths to refresh.

OK, thanks Anne.

It just seemed to me that if you are "connected" then by definition there must be a path, however obscure!

Hi,

I'm seeing the same results from my profile to: Heath Ledger

Just looking for fun, and had never stumbled upon this odd error before.
Any clue how to rectify?

Thanks!

I am having the same problem! I know I am a descendant of Paul Averill but it states “ no path found”. Why?

Hi, can confirm this is the case with me too. Just got connected to the world tree and am getting a ton of "You are connected" with every path search resulting in "no path found".

After receiving my DNA test, I found out that I have matches at the opposite side of my world. I tried one name Montagne and it says "You are connected". after awhile it says "No Path"
Quiet confusing :(

For any profile connected to the Geni World Tree, Geni knows both you and the profile are on the same tree. That's how they determine to show the "You are connected" message. The message "no path found" just means that the two profiles are too far apart to calculate in a reasonable timeframe.

Last night, I opened my emails and the Path was send to me. Thank you.
