Does anyone have any information on when and how John got to the Colonies? There is a narrative out there that he came at age 18 (1730) on the ship Minerva out of London as an indentured servant, but I have never seen any primary source to support this narrative.
Does anyone have any such information? John is my direct ancestor (my name is also John Cannon).

It is on find a grave

Source: Ancestry.com trees...he is listed on my tree. Samuel born Antrim Ireland....His wife is listed as buried here.

S/O John Cannon 1712-1763 who had two wives Mary? and Ann? John had lived in Charleston SC.
John had sailed for America at 18y as an indentured servant on the ship Minerva out of London. He moved to Pomaria SC when he received a land grant of 550 acres on Cannon Creek Pomaria SC.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church was built on the land grant in 1817 by Philip Sligh who deeded the land to the church, noting that there is a family cemetery nearby ( Newbury Deeds Q-2 Page 239) The plot of Commons survey shows a house in the vicinity of the present location of the church.

In 1756 he gave 175 acres to his son Samuel Cannon ( Newberry Deeds Q-2 p.376. The LWT of John Cannon he gave the remainder of the tract to sons Ephraim and James Cannon.

John, I am a descendant of John Cannon born 1760 in Ninety-Six District S.C. Have you thought about doing a Y-DNA test on Family Tree DNA? There are several branches there connected to the S.C. Cannons. Ed Cannon and I have talked about needing more Cannons to do the test to see how they all connect. I used my cousin James Allen Cannon to do the test. All I know for sure is that the James Cannon born 1755 in Ninety-Six and died in Davies County Indiana is my John's brother per their Pension papers.
