Dear Terrance,
I see some conflicts with this DAniell... some working hard to insist he is NOT royalty... which makes sense, given the fact that the family was Puritan and headed OUT rather than staying around... Any leads? I see that Robert and Elizabeth (MORSE) Daniels had their daughter baptized at Earl Colne... Any chance his family was from around there?
Hi Matt,
I think it is very possible that Robert Daniell was from Essex, Suffolk or Norfolk. The idea that he was the son of Peter Daniell and Christina Grovsnor is highly suspect as there is no record that he had a son Robert. I still show that line in my tree as have nothing to replace it with, but am thinking of removing it all. We were lucky that Cambridge University did a ten year study of all the records of Earls Colne back to 1300. This was the old property of the Earls of Oxford. That’s why the baptism was picked up. Daniels is not an uncommon name in England as the Danyells came with the Normans in 1066. The Puritans were not poor folk and probably in the main represented the upper class as one had to have money to travel in those days. I think it is going to take a lot of digging to find out where Robert (our shared Great Grandfather) came from in England. I see you have a great grand parent who was a Fairbanks (a distant cousin of mine).
