I was researching my family tree last year and noticed that the Lawrences in our tree were from Virginia, then before that were English and can be traced back a pretty long way to the "Lawrences of Ashton Hall" which is pretty interesting.
Considering I knew one of my Virginia ancestors (a James Garrard) more or less founded the state of Kentucky from what was previously Virginia, and I recalled that Jennifer Lawrence has roots in Kentucky (and thus probably Virginia) I thought I'd take a look at her ancestry to see if there was a connection between our Lawrence ancestors who lived in either Virginia or Kentucky.
And I found that someone had traced her ancestry back a few generations already to this fellow:
Thomas Lawrence, born abt. 1795 in Virginia, married a Mildren Ogden in Winchester, Clark, Kentucky on 27 Jan 1836
So if anyone ever cares to research her roots further, here's one possible place to start!
