I am the great granddaughter of Maren Gundersgaard.
Based on an uncles research, she left Norway at age 17 and immigrated to the USA via the UK and Canada, settling in Tacoma Washington. She married Guy Wilson in 1902 at 30. He was 43. They had two children, my grandmother May (1903-2005) and her brother Walter. The family were farmers and immigrated to Oyen Alberta Canada where they continued to farm but in less prosperous conditions.
My brother and I are coming to Oslo next week July 12-15 to research more about our great-grandmother. We would be keen to hear from anyone who is related or has any information. I am curious why she left Norway by herself at 17 and to know more about her family in Norway.
