I'm trying to determine who his parents and siblings are. He is NOT the son of John Cook and Susan Castleman who lived in Ohio and moved to Iowa. Their son Emanuel moved to Iowa and married there. My Emanuel Cook was in Ohio, fought in the Civil War from there and after the war move to Elba, Gratiot, Michigan. According to his Civil War papers, he was born in Clermont County, Ohio 10JUL1827. He was married 11MAY1851 in Wapakoneta, Auglaize, Ohio. He died 4JAN1893 in Grand Rapids, Kent, Michigan at the Soldier's Home and is buried in the cemetery there. Many have thought that his wife, Eliza Caroline Harris, was born in Clermont Co. to John and Nancy Harris. However, going 100 miles away to marry seems odd for that time in history. I think his wife may have been born elsewhere.
Emanuel and Eliza had the following children: Stephen Wheeler, Henry Joel, Minervia Adelaide, George Elmer, John Orville, Charles Franklin, Thomas Franklin, Jennie and Loey Etta (my grandmother).
Any information on Emanuel would be greatly appreciated.
