Hello Eugene,
I hope this email reaches you and that are able to clear up this mystery for me. John Henry is my grandfather (several times removed). In your tree, it says that his parents are John Hannis and Sarah Horton, however the information that I can find does not show me that he is their son. Their son John was born 1827, many years after John Henry. All indications are that he married a woman named Steele and died in the west. I would love have proof of a connection between John Henry and John Hannis/ Sarah Horton. Do you have any documentation? I can find no church records, or documentation of any kind to indicate that he is their son. However my DNA matches ancestors of both John Hannis and Sarah Horton. I’m just lacking documentation. Any help you could offer would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Deborah Stein Manahan
John and Sarah had two sons named John: John Henry and John.

Hi Eugene,
Thank you for the information. I appreciate your assistance. I’ve seen the rootsweb.com report, but I’m curious about their documentation. Do you know how they develop their reports?
Also, in John Hannis’s will (the father of John Henry) he lists a child Henry to receive an inheritance only after the death of his mother, should anything remain. It is pretty obvious he meant to limit any benefit to Henry while preventing him from contesting the will. In a biography of the father, it list a child, Henry/Harry, as having moved to Pike County. I believe John Henry/Harry/ Henry are the same person. Have you looked into this?
Once again, I appreciate any assistance you can offer.

The Society of the descendants of Johannes de la Montagne has researched all of the data in the source listed above. There is also a Henry to go along with John Henry and John.
I find no Harry Hannis or John Harry Hannis.
