People descended from Goldwasser's are often Goldwater's in the US. A famous example is Barry Goldwater, the well known former senator of Arizona. His grandfather was Michael ("Big Mike") Goldwater, nee Goldwasser, born in Poland. Big Mike's father was Hirschel Goldwasser, who lived in Poland and never emigrated. My great grandfather was a Henry Goldwater (not the Henry Goldwater who was one of Barry Goldwater's uncle (one of Big Mike's sons). My Henry Goldwater was the son of one Emanual Goldwasser, from Hungary. For many years it was thought that my family is somehow related to the Barry Goldwater family. However, I am having trouble making that connection. All of my relatives who assumed this are now deceased. Thus, I ask to the community, does anyone with a Goldwasser/Goldwater background know something about these names and the inter-relationships (if any) amongst them?
