My brother is moving to Asheville, NC along with many of our fellow Texan's and Nixon cousin's. I found this out after connecting with them recently - they're my CA branch! After speaking to my sister today, I've discovered they're considering relocating from Ocala, FL to NC! So, what I'm hearing from a Nixon cousin in California is many people from her state are relocating to the East Coast where our ancestor's began, so, it seems we are going back to our roots. Evidently, our ancestor's whom settled in NC enjoyed the nice weather! My sister says it fabulous today, they met someone from Austin today! So, if I move from Texas most likely I will be around family, cousin's and Texan's.
Then I can travel around and visit the libraries to research our ancestors! ll of my lineages migrated to America in the early 1600's.
I can thank my 3rd great-grandfathers; Robert Thomas Nixon, John Nathaniel Lancaster and John Ebenezer Moseley for being a Texan and enduring the horrific heat! I forgive William Bell Stephens (Stevens), he was just a 12yrs old orphan sent to live with relatives in Texas when his parents and most of his siblings perished during The War of The States in GA and AL. They actually settled in central Texas at least a dry heat, I'm in the gulf coast area, a bit humid, so I will be relocating over the next year.
How many of you guys are relocating when you retire to another state ? Have you relocated before you retired? How many of you are fortunate enough to still live in MA, NY, NH, VA, TN, NC and SC where our ancestor's originally started in America? Some of my cousin's are still in GA, AL, MS, LA - What states did I miss?
