Many researchers list Kazov, Romania, as the place where Rabbi Yosef Mordechai Heller-Kahana died in Feb 1834. I have searched the web and am unable to find any place in Romania that is, or was, named Kazov. I wonder whether he might have died in Kozova, Galicia, which is probably not that far from Kalush, Galicia, where he was born about 1860.

did you see where it was in that time? for instance, one relative is listed as living in Lithuania, in 1740s, but further looking shows Bedzin, Lithuania.. now Poland.

In 1834, the year of Yoseph Mordechai Heller-Kahana's death, Kosov was in Galicia, Austria-Hungary. Present name is Kosiv, Ukraine. He and his siblings were probably all born in Kalush, Galicia, before 1802 when their father Yehuda ben Yosef (Kuntras HaSfeikos) was appointed rabbi of Sziget, Maramaros. At least three of Yosef Mordechai's siblings remained in or near Sziget including Nachman Heller, Nissel, and my 3-G grandfather Zev Wolf, who was a shochet in Kabolacsarda. His brother Yechiel was the rabbi of Mateszalka.
