Deportation of Litvaks (Lithuanian Jews) to Siberia and to GULAG camps in June 14,1941 is a forgotten part of our history. Actually, it was the beginning of extermination of Lithuanian Jews, which was started by Soviet NKVD, one week before Nazis' occupation. According to the studies by Dov Levin, former professor in the Jerusalem University, almost 30% of Lithuanians deported from Kaunas region in June 1941, were Jewish. My father's family were among them. However, I got very little results in my effort to find information of my grandfather, who was arrested separately from the rest of his family, and sent to the one of the Archangelsk GULAG camps. He perished there in 1942.
