Was just listening to an author interview on the new book

Blood Moon
An American Epic of War and Splendor in the Cherokee Nation
By John Sedgwick

If anyone gets the book, would this make a spin off project ?

I have not read the book, but several Native reviewers have said it is full of sterotypes and misunderstanding or misinterpretations. This is still unfinished business for the Cherokee.

Yes, he addressed that criticism.

We should make sure their trees are right (publicity = page views).

Major Ridge’s wife and descendants look accurate. His father however was a Cherokee man named ‘Oganstota’ (not the famous chief Oconostota), mother unknown. The father’s birthdate unknown, probably abt. 1750, died about 1791. References are Starr and David K. hampton’s “Cherokee Mixed-Bloods” p. 243

Major Ridge had only one brother, “Oowatie” anglicized to David Watie. B. Abt. 1775, m. susannah Reese abt. 1798, died ant. 1842, Cherokee Nation, IT. He may have also had a sister name, unknown.

David Watie had 11 children. Sarah Smith was not one of them.

On the Ross side, Mary/Mollie McDonald had only one sibling, brother George.
Daniel Ross and Mollie McDonald had only 10 children, no Mary Ross Brown
Chief John Ross had only two wives, Quatie (mother of James, Allen, Jane, Silas, and George) and Mary Stapler (mother of Anna and John, Jr.)
They had seven children. Can’t tell who <private> is - a misplaced child or duplicate?

Got the rest of Mary Brian Ross family added / merged. Findagrave had her birth date wrong.

The private profile was a time traveler I sent back to his era.
