@JohnCarroll
I'm looking for a John Carroll born in Ireland 1837, Immigrated in 1853 to New York. Served in the Civil War for the 30th NY Light Artillery but I can't find him listed in the muster rolls. He claims on the Nebraska Veterans census of 1890 that he served from April of 1863 (?) to April 1865. There were many John Carrolls who served in the Civil War for New York but none seem to be in the 30th NY Light Artillery. I would like to know where in Ireland he came from and who his parents and siblings are. I would also like to verify his Civil War service. He married Sarah Baker in 1870 in Illinois and they moved to Nebraska in about 1885. They lived in Custer County, Nebraska until his death on August 31, 1905.
