Henry Knowles was my 3rd great uncle and came from a remarkable family of seafarers. It seems truly unfortunate that the only thing Geni has quoted about him was that he was shaken up in a sleigh accident. There is an excellent obituary on line from the January 28, 1893 Morning Star and he is mentioned in "Brewster Ship Masters" as having captained the ships Albatross, Western Star, and Belle Creole. He often sailed with his wife Lizzie and one of their children, daughter Grace Pacific Knowles was born at sea off the Peru coast. A rather florid but memorable depiction of Captain Henry is found in "Cape Cod Bay: A History of Salt and Sea" by Theresa Barbo. In short, he is well documented as a captain and man of morals. I would like to see him remembered for more than a dump in the snow.
