I'm doing some research on my tree and can go back to a Stephen Keim and his wife, Catharine through their son, Jacob Keim (1779-1850). The only documentation I can find says that Jacob's parents were Stephen and Catharine. I also haven't been able to find any documentation of his middle name being Samuel and was curious if this is the same person that shows up on Berks County Muster Records for the Revolutionary War as Samuel Keim. It looks like his brothers, John, George (shows as his middle name Valentine) and Johannes Peter (shows as Peter) all show up on the same record. Wouldn't be too far fetched to have your brothers talk you into something :) Was it common for people to go by their middle names? Thanks for any help you can provide.
