Changed his name (probably not legally) when Yetta Katz finally divorced him in 1984 after 45 years of marriage, as he was living a double life with another woman with whom he had a child (daughter) .
He was not a good father (nor a good husband) and his two children with Yetta - Harold and Sarah and nothing further to do with him. It is understood (but definitive proof is lacking) that he separated eventually from his second family.
