In doing further research of my Reynolds line, I have come across this profile...there is no "Lyonelle Kitson" to be found in the line of Sir Thomas Kitson. He has only 3 children, John, Margaret and Mary. The Pedigree can be found here: https://archive.org/stream/visitationsuffo00hervgoog#page/n119/mode..., also it is unlikely that Alice Kitson was born in Plymouth or in New England as she would have been born before the arrival of the MayFlower, which occurred in 1620.

Curiously, there are previous connected marriages in both of the Reynolds/Kitson lines...Sir James Reynolds is married to Judeth Hervey in 1655 and Sir Robert Reynolds, marries a Kesia Tyrell, daughter of Kesia Hervey, their great- grandmother is a Kitson, via Lady Penelope Gage Hervey. SO the Reynolds and Kitsons obviously were connected prior to arriving in New England.

This needs to be corrected...

Sincerely,

Mimi Nusbaum

I know I have said before that my Reynolds liked to marry cousins. I found a record for Thomas Kitson and Elisabeth Mosely married 28 May 1592 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. Then from that I found children born to a father named Thomas: Anna 1593, Elisabeth 1595, Hellena 1596, Hellena again 1602 and Thomas 1605.

Was Alice’s father Lyonell Kitson or Thomas Kitson who married Prudence Scofield? Both are attached to her currently, no notes in profile to help me resolve the parent conflict, both fathers born Yorkshire

I also found an Alice Kitson married to an Andrew Hayre in 1597 in York...

Another thing, Hope (Hopestill) Reynolds is most likely Job's Daughter, William is her grandfather...and John is her Uncle, she marries Eli Demeritt, I believe as his second wife.

Alice's Children are...(not listed in birth order)
Job,
John,
Samuel,
William,
Jane and Hope (not Hopestill)
possibly another daughter who does not survive to adulthood

I have "Hopestill" listed as his daughter in some trees but Hope and Hopestill are two different women.

I didn't go back that far yet, I'll have a poke around in the records tonight.

Thanks guys. That her name has Lionell in it suggests someone believes she's of Lionell Kitson - but is that correct?

So your answer is as follows, and I will put her baptism recd. in her images: Lyonell Kitson married Prudence Scolfield 12 June 1605 in Birstall, St Peter, Yorkshire Eng. On the 17th of July 1614 Alice was born, father listed as Lionell Kitson. The image was a bit tricky to find because someone transcribed it as Ritson.

Very nice find, thank you.

Is that before Birdsall, North Yorkshire, England or a different Birdstall?

This is how the record was transcribed, and as you can see in the image I added it would be very easy to confuse a "K" as an "R". The person who originally said Lionell was her father knew how to search records. It has taken me years to learn how to find tricky transcriptions.

Name:
Alice Ritson
Event Type:
Christening (Baptism)
Baptism Date:
17 Jul 1614
Baptism Place:
Birstall, St Peter, Yorkshire, England
Parish:
Birstall, St Peter
Father:
Linnell Ritson
