Hello everyone,
These trees are messed up -- and keep getting confused -- because of the mirroring of the names Gerrit, Willem, and Arij in both distinct branches of stamvaders. Contributors keep linking or attaching incorrect fragments of different trees to the wrong stamvader. To prevent this in future,I think we should therefore: lock the children and parents of Arij (Roelofsz, born c. 1668 in Amsterdam), and lock off his children Willem and Gerrit (died as a baby). Then, in the other Stamvader branch, we should lock off Stamvader Willem van Wijk, as well as his sons Arij, Gerrit, and Willem; and also his son Arij's sons Willem and Gerrit! In all cases, I recommend that we append the patronymics "-sz" as a middle name so clarify the line of descent.
I am descended from Arij Roelofsz on both my mother's mother's side and my father's mothers side, and directly from Willem on my father's side. It created a lot of untangling to get the lines straight, and I'm sure it would be helpful to a lot of people to have this locked off. I am still coming across many cases of confused descent between the different Stamvaders in multiple family trees and on other sites.
Best,
Gary
