Tabitha Stewart's maiden name was Clay, not Belcher. Her father according to my family records was David Clay 1740, Henrico, VA. the son of William Mitchell Clay, 1708. She is often mistaken for Tabitha , daughter of Phoebe Belcher Clay and Michell Clay, 1736, who was killed by Indians at her home when she was a teenager. in 1783, so could not possibly have been the mother of Elizabeth Stewart, who was born in 1801
Hi Bonnie,
If I'm understanding correctly, you are saying that these two Tabithas are being confused.Tabitha Clay
