That is not what I am saying. What I am trying to say is that if you can track your ancestry to this particular gentleman, and you have a match with me, then you may be on to something. I have learned from several experts whom know much more about the subject than I, that if you have Russell as a surname and migrated to America through Virginia, then you most likely descend from the Worcestershire Russells, whom had a land dispute with their cousins the Sheldon family and thus came to America as titled Lords and indeed descendants of the great Baron of Thornaugh himself William Russell. These Russells subsequently married into the Bean family who were the first whites to settle west of the Smokey Mountains.

I additionally would like to assert that DNA is a totally valid source for genealogical studies, something that many older genealogy hobbyists tend to overlook. The sad thing about documentation and family history research, is that many times there were no records kept or the documents get destroyed due to flood damage, fire, vandalism, etc.
DNA keeps a living testament to your heritage, an irrefutable tie to your past that can't
be argued, and much to the dismay of the older genealogists, doesn't need any form of proof through exhaustive research in some distant library's micro film collection. So again although the fellow doing his consistency check in the post above wants census records, I am searching for my own substantial proof in the form of DNA. A667758 is my gedmatch, if you can tie yourself to Lt. Col. William Russell through family research then you will most likely match me in a DNA search as well.
