I'm looking to connect with any Morans in Westport descended from Michael and Charlotte (nee Nolan, or Knowlan, or a similar variant). Around 1870 Michael was renting a house on Newport Road around the corner from the North Mall. He was also renting a garden across the road from Holy Trinity Church. He had at least 2 children: Patrick James and Margaret Mary Elizabeth. Patrick married Elizabeth Durkin or Durkan an emigrated to Chicago around 1884. Margaret Mary married William Roebuck and emigrated to England before 1900.

Hi William,
I saw your post about Morans. I'm afraid I can't help with your search but I wanted to ask whether you might have any old photos of Westport people/places? I'm working on a book on Westport, an illustrated history of the town, and am trying to include as many of the old Westport families as I can. My email is oldwestport@gmail.com
Thanks,

Unfortunately, I have no old pictures.

I have photos of our great grandparents who left Westport for The US in 1884. Also, Michael and Charlotte had a daughter who stayed in Westport. She married Kate McCormack's brother, John Stone.

Michael and Charlotte owned a pub on Bridge Street in the 1880s and 1890s.

The address on Bridge Street waa either 13 or 15. I understand the building still syands.

James, I have been in contact with Dympna Joyce. She has helped me with this information.
