My great great grandfather was Jarrett W. Kendall. According to Goodspeeds Biographical memoirs of Northeast Arkansas he was born in Henry County, Tennessee October 17, 1836 to Jephtha A. Kendall and Elizabeth J. Harvey. According to the Goodspeeds book which was published in 1889, when Jarrett was still alive, his father was born in 1806 in Tennessee and died in 1838 in Tennessee. I, however , found a Jepthtal Kendall in the 1840 Henry County census. I have been unable to connect him positively to any other Henry County Kendall family. I found him in Arkansas in 1860. He was living in the home of Griffin Hogan family and Elizabeth was in another township close by in the home of Hosey H. Young. Jarrett W. Kendall joined the 1st Arkansas Mounted Rifles. Company K. Out of Independence county, Arkansas. He saw a lot of action, according to Goodspeeds, he saw a brother killed at Franklin, Tennessee during battle. He was injured at Nashville and was in the hospital and taken to Point Lookout Maryland. According to family he suffered from these injuries the rest of his life. He married Mary George Box after the war Oct 19,1865 in Jackson County, Arkansas. They moved to Lawrence County, Arkansas where he lived the rest of his life. They had 2 children and their oldest was my great grandmother, Susan Felix Kendall b. 22 Feb, 1867. She died of tuberculosis 26 March 1914 and is buried at Hillhouse Cemetery in Smithville, Arkansas (lawrence County). He had a son, George A. Kendall b. 16 Mar, 1869. He died 9, Nov, 1887. Jarretts wife died and he remarried having other children, but I am not going into that at this point because of the length of this message. Jarrett died 3 September, 1903 and is buried at a Hillhouse Cemetery, Smithville, Lawrence County, Arkansas. Any help to connect hi. To other Henry County Kendall’s would be appreciated. When I saw that Peter Kendalls wife was Nancy Hogan and that is the name of the family he lived with I. Arkansas, I thought that was significant especially since there was also another Jarrett Kendall I. That family as well. Thank you.

My family also has significant origins in Henry County, Tennessee as well as Weakley and Obion counties. You are welcome to look at my ancestry, I have DNA Matches via FTDNA on the male line of Peter Kendall and other lines of Kendalls related to Peter but hae not been able to prove them.
