She and her parents and older siblings were born in "Russian" Poland. Before WWI the area was a part of Russia but they are from Poland indeed. Solomon's scratched out place of birth on the 1911 Census is Chanstachoff which is the phonetically spelled name of Czestochowa, Poland. I believe he is actually from a smaller suburb of Czestochowa called Przyrow where several Federman families dwelled.
