This guy doesn't have the right wife. Here are his and his wife's profiles on wikitree:
His wife should be Elizabeth Mansfield:
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-667
Here's his wife's page:
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mansfield-30
And the tree on wikitree:
https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Wilson-Family-Tree-2735
The wife of John Wilson needs to be changed. Is there a profile of Elizabeth Mansfield?
The Wilson line is also a proven line to one of the Magna Carta signers. Wikitree proved that I have a connection to one and it might be a good idea to fix the tree here.
Here's what a genealogist on Wikitree said about the issue when I presented my path to the signer:
Congrats, the Wilson line is a proven line from the immigrant Elizabeth (Mansfield) Wilson on. The line was proven in an article by Anderson himself in 2001, and is included in Richardson's Royal Ancestry for easy tracing.
The New England Historical and Genealogical Register. vol. 155 no. 1 (January, 2001): 3-35. The Ancestry of the Royally-Descended Mansfields of the Massachusetts Bay, by Robert Charles Anderson, F.A.S.G., John C. Brandon, and Paul C. Reed, F.A.S.G. AmericanAncestors ($) LINK
Richardson, Douglas. Royal Ancestry: A Study In Colonial And Medieval Families, in 5 vols. (Salt Lake City, Utah, 2013): vol. II page 530.
So, we should probably change the wife.
Here are some sources which confirm this. The line goes to one of the signers of the Magna Carta.
Here's a book about the Magna Carta ancestry. It says how the Mansfield gores to Anne Eure and then to the Magna Carta signers: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=8JcbV309c5UC&pg=RA1-PA130
And here is my own line you can follow to fix the timeline. It goes from Eure to the ancestor like this:
13. Sarah is the daughter of John Wilson Sr. [unknown confidence]
14. John is the son of Elizabeth (Mansfield) Wilson [unknown confidence]
15. Elizabeth is the daughter of John Mansfield Esq, MP [confident]
16. John is the son of Anne (Eure) Mansfield [confident]
17. Anne is the daughter of Ralph Eure [unknown confidence]
18. Ralph is the son of William Eure [unknown confidence]
19. William is the son of Ralph Eure [unknown confidence]
20. Ralph is the son of William Eure [unknown confidence]
21. William is the son of Ralph Eure [unknown confidence]
22. Ralph is the son of Matilda (Fitzhugh) de Eure [unknown confidence]
23. Maude is the daughter of Elizabeth (Grey) FitzHugh [unknown confidence]
24. Elizabeth is the daughter of Robert (Grey) de Grey [unknown confidence]
25. Robert is the son of John Grey KG [unknown confidence]
26. John is the son of Margaret (Oddingseles) Moreby [unknown confidence]
27. Margaret is the daughter of Ela (FitzWalter) de Odingsells [unknown confidence]
28. Ela is the daughter of Walter FitzRobert [confident]
29. Walter is the son of Robert FitzWalter [confident]
Please fix. Thanks!
Are the correct Geni profiles tagged?
Rev. Dr. William Wilson matches Wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-445
Rev. John Wilson matches https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-667
Yes.
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-667 and Rev. John Wilson Match.
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-445 and Rev. Dr. William Wilson Match.
Is there a match for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mansfield-30
Her Eures lead to the baron: https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Mansfield-Family-Tree-30
I see. Wikitree has her married to Reverend John. But the thing is she doesn't pop up in the tree I have for the whole family starting with this person:
https://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000001661808482
On wikitree:
https://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Wilson-Family-Tree-2735
The trees aren't matching even though wikitree has evidence.
I think you are saying that you have a line to Elizabeth Mansfield & Rev John Wilson on Wikitree & you don’t on Geni.
The error could be anywhere in the generations between you & them, on Wikitree or Geni or both.
Use the geni “how am I related” to step through your path on Geni & inspect the live profiles.
Yes I am. Sorry for the confusion. I think I see where the errors are.
Sarah's parents are the same on both trees.
The grandparents are different on her father's side.
The great grandparents are off, too.
Then the great, great grandparents almost match. Not quite, though. Not sure what the deal is but I have been assured Wikitree is accurate because of the sources presented.
I have a direct link to Sarah to begin with. Things before her seem a little weird. Here's my link to Sarah: https://www.geni.com/path/Chris-Ferraiolo+is+related+to+Sarah-Snow?...
I have the same path on wikitree up to her. It's just here that things got a little jumbled and needs to be fixed. People aren't where they should be.
You need to tag Geni profiles for me to take a look, otherwise I get lost.
There was a mixup of Sir John Sir John Mansfield but I don’t think that affected the path
I’m not sure which John married Mary Mansfield if Gerene May Jensen Mason could help on that one
Profiles can be accurate in their bios but connected wrongly - happens to All trees.
Sarah Snow is of Woburn. So are her Geni parents. What town are her Wikitree parents ?
This lady Elizabeth Wilson should be the wife of Sir William Wilson, II not Patience Wilson.
And it looks like that William Wilson has a merge with the Wilson attached to Elizabeth.
From there things seem similar. But, you'd have to compare side by side. According to wikitree, the great great grandparents of William Wilson, I are different and he's married to Isabel Collins.
Right. Got a little carried away. Here are some of Sarah's sources from wikitree:

1. John Wilson was born about 1626 and died 2 July 1687 at Woburn, Massachusetts. He married before 1651, Hannah James, born say 1630 and died about 1698 at Woburn, Massachusetts. She married secondly, Thomas Fuller of Salem, Massachusetts. The notion that John was the son of a Roger Wilson is a fabrication. John and Hannah had ten children: John, Sarah, Dorcas, Samuel, Francis, James, Abigail, Elizabeth, Benjamin, and Hannah.
That matches! The dates are a little off on both. But, I see Sarah there.
The Wilsons have been confirmed as a line that goes to a Magna carta signer. This confirms it:
The New England Historical and Genealogical Register. vol. 155 no. 1 (January, 2001): 3-35. The Ancestry of the Royally-Descended Mansfields of the Massachusetts Bay, by Robert Charles Anderson, F.A.S.G., John C. Brandon, and Paul C. Reed, F.A.S.G. AmericanAncestors ($) LINK
Richardson, Douglas. Royal Ancestry: A Study In Colonial And Medieval Families, in 5 vols. (Salt Lake City, Utah, 2013): vol. II page 530.
There's also a book about the Magna Carta signers and the descendants. The parents info can be found here:
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-1990
There are sources there. Don't have time to get into details.
The trick is to google Geni Sarah Wilson 1650 Samuel Snow, shell come right up.
The link I posted http://mhollick.typepad.com/slovakyankee/2015/07/john-wilson-ca-162...
Is the 2015 work of Martin Halleck, a NEHGS genealogist.
If he doesn't have parents for this John Wilson, they are not known to a confidence he is willing to publish.
This John Wilson of Woburn has been confused with other John Wilson's arriving to New England.
The next entry on Halleck's blog, for instance, is
http://mhollick.typepad.com/slovakyankee/2015/07/john-wilson-1588-1...
"The Rev. John Wilson was the first minister in Boston and easily the second most famous colonial person from whom I descend. But unlike other genealogists who uniformly laud their ancestors, I don't particularly like the Rev. John Wilson. ..."
He is the one with proven royal ancestry.
You will notice the same death year as the farmer John Wilson of Woburn.
There was also a Capt. John Wilson of Swansea.
None of the above were the father of Sarah (Wilson) Snow.
Right. Sorry I ran off like that. Heh. Was called away.
What about these sources:
The New England Historical and Genealogical Register. vol. 155 no. 1 (January, 2001): 3-35. The Ancestry of the Royally-Descended Mansfields of the Massachusetts Bay, by Robert Charles Anderson, F.A.S.G., John C. Brandon, and Paul C. Reed, F.A.S.G. AmericanAncestors ($) LINK
Richardson, Douglas. Royal Ancestry: A Study In Colonial And Medieval Families, in 5 vols. (Salt Lake City, Utah, 2013): vol. II page 530.
There is also this book:
https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=8JcbV309c5UC&pg=RA1-PA130
That outlines the Magna Carta history for the Eure family. And others.
John Mansfield (MP) has been proven to be the father of Elizabeth who was the wife of John Wilson (1588-1667)
His son John married Hannah James and had Sarah as one of the kids.
You are looking at the wrong John Wilson so sources are meaningless in this context.
The Wikitree profile for John Wilson who married Hannah James and were the parents of Sarah who married Samuel Snow is attached to the wrong parents.
See https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000075054944979&
The marriage deed is at the Woburn library apparently.
It is this Rev. John Wilson who married Sarah Wilson who is the son of Elizabeth Wilson & Rev. John Wilson
Their daughter Sarah Torrey
Okay. I am going to make a thread on wikitree advising them that I am going to fix all of the things.
Sarah Snow is still connected to me. That's what matters at this point. Just not sure what to tell the people over there.
Yes, I can help with this mix up. This can be confusing because there are lots of John Mansfields in this family line.
Below is the John Mansfield who married Mary Hobson and Elizabeth unknown. He is the son of Lancelot Mansfield, Esquire, of Skirpenbeck and Anne Eure. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Here is a source form Plantagenet Ancestry: A Study In Colonial And Medieval Families, 2nd Edition,

Who is the curator? And why is this Master Profile not locked after all the hard work that has been done? I am in awe of the passion and dedication and professionalism I see in the discussion and hope that all the current connections are still correct... I am another descendant. I only recently added/ was added to this line. Please double check Related merges? Thank you 🙏
