Katherine Vinson (Tomlinson) - Katherine Vinson

Katherine Vinson is actually Katherine Tomlinson-Sowersby Vinson and is the second wife of John Vinson of Surry, VA. She was the widow of Francis Sowerby and they lived in the next farm to the Vinson farm. She is not the mother of any of the children of John Vinson...who is my 9th great grandfather. His children were John, Thomas (my 8th GGF) and Peter. I have spent many hours in the Surry County Courthouse and in the Surry County Historical Society research archives which contain the records. Anther great source is the "Order of First Families of North Carolina" compiled by John Anderson Brayton of Memphis, TN which includes references to John Vinson's will and his 2nd marriage in 1680 to Katherine. --- 1/21/2018 Thomas Vinson, VA
