I generally place profiles in to the child projects listed there for each individual commune. I see your family is from Santa Margherita di Belice? We didn't have a project for there yet, but I created one and it's now listed on the main Sicily project: https://www.geni.com/projects/Santa-Margherita-di-Belice-Agrigento-...
I did a little bit of searching and rounded up some other families on Geni that have added family that connected to there also and listed the earliest one with that name on the project page. I imagine those could be people you might be branches to tie into.
I've done this for the communes I run into a bit closer to Palermo and it's helped keep track of loose ends to research at a later date and also helped to connect with others that have added stuff from the same communes as well. It has been neat to see some cross over between communes too sometimes where I might have found a record in my town indicating someone married there but was born in another place... I would list it in the project for that other place. Then it has turned in to a bit of a long long family connection because somebody from that other place has been looking for it.
