As far as I know history begins with a Steven & Mary Butler of Braintree, Essex, England, who sent 2 sons to New England, William, Richard. They also had a daughter who married a Mr West & stayed in England.
This is from http://www.ryanwadleigh.com/butler.html i have not yet looked at The Great Migration Begins.
Anyone who has a source for wife Jane Boteler & father Joan Butler please post & I will put them back.
Peter Butler was not the son of William Butler of Hartford who had no known children.
“ He married Eunice, sister of Tristram Coffin, of Nantucket; died 1648, without wife or children, leaving by his will, dated May 11, the greater portion of his estate to his brother, Deacon Richard Butler. He mentions children of his sister West, and his sister Winter, "living in Old England," and gives "threo-skore pounds" to the Church of Hartford. Inventory £429. 3”

Tagging the corrected parents, siblings & wife to this discussion
Steven Butler of Braintree Parish married Mary? Butler
Children
His Wife was Eunice Butler no children & not mentioned in 1648 will so presumed deceased before then
Deacon Richard Butler his widow was Elizabeth Butler
Their sisters in England were unknown Winter & unknown West
And that’s all we know.
Speak if known differently.
Correction. William Butler d 1648 was not the husband of Eunice Coffin according to the Great Migration Project.

There is another William Butler, Sr. who is perhaps the origin of the false marriage citation. He’s problematic also as he’s currently geni married to sisters.

NOTE: Most on-line family trees assign a Stephen Butler and various women, very often Sarah Ann Edwards as William's parents. There is no evidence of William's (or his brother Richards's) parents. Siblings are known from William's will.[3]
