Mary Singleton is said to have married a George Foster, however which George she married has never been properly identified.
George Foster Sr. (1695 - 1789) aka George The Elder, has no known ties to Mary Singleton. His grandson Francis said his grandfathers wife's name was Betty and to date this is the only known record of George The Elder's wife's name.
Perhaps the Singleton name within the James "Bully Jim" Foster (1784-1854) line indicates Mary is his ancestor and perhaps her husband George was James' father or grandfather. Previously in his book ( The Foster Family of Flanders, England, and America, Second Edition, Volume II, 2006, pages 61-62 ), Dr Billy Glen Foster incorrectly said that James "Bully Jim" is George The Elder's great grandson, through Robert and Francis. To avoid confusion resulting from this error the actual grandson is now renamed James "Not the Bully" within later trees. However, the book error lives on and is used as a source by others.
The life of Mary Singleton remains a mystery, along with life of her true husband and children.
